The New England chapter of the Retail Energy Supply Association named Connecticut Public Utilities Regulatory Authority Commissioner Michael Caron as the 2016 recipient of its Champion of Choice Award.
The 2016 award went to Commissioner Caron because his actions demonstrated a commitment to customer choice and vibrant and sustainable competitive retail energy markets for the benefit of residential, commercial and industrial consumers.
“I am very gratified to receive this award on behalf of my colleagues at the PURA,” said Commissioner Caron. “I consider it an honor that Connecticut is being recognized as a leading state to foster and encourage a dynamic and robust retail electricity market that provides strong consumer protections but enables innovative product development and price strategies for those savvy customers who participate in these markets,” Caron said.
“We want to thank Commissioner Caron for his leadership associated with the supplier working group initiative that brings together leading suppliers – RESA members and others – to discuss an array of retail market development issues and consumer protection measures,” said Marc Hanks, chair of RESA’s New England chapter. “The working group allows good ideas to be brought forward in an informal setting prior to formal deliberations before the PURA. The enhanced communications associated with the working group benefits Connecticut energy consumers,” Hanks said.
RESA is a broad and diverse group of retail energy suppliers who share the common vision that competitive retail energy markets deliver a more efficient, consumer-oriented product.
