Direct Energy’s Ron Cerniglia to Lead RESA’s Pennsylvania Electric Advocacy Efforts

HARRISBURG, PA. — The Retail Energy Supply Association (RESA), dedicated to creating and sustaining vibrantly competitive electricity markets for the benefit of consumers, today announced its members have elected Ron Cerniglia to chair the competitive energy suppliers association’s electric caucus for Pennsylvania.

“Since price caps came off more than a year ago, and thanks to the significant efforts of the Public Utility Commission and Staff, Pennsylvania has quickly emerged as having one of our nation’s most vibrant and successful competitive electricity markets,” Cerniglia said.

“Nevertheless, there is still much more work to be done by all stakeholders in the near term to bring the benefits of a fully competitive market to Pennsylvania’s consumers. As the Public Utility Commission considers improvements in the Commonwealth’s retail power market, RESA stands ready to serve as a trusted resource for the commissioners and staff,” Cerniglia added. “I am confident that consumers will benefit greatly from an appropriately designed and implemented competitive electricity market and that the Commission’s efforts will result in Pennsylvania realizing the most competitive electricity marketplace in North America.”

“Ron is a seasoned veteran and respected advocate for competitive energy markets. With his leadership and experience, RESA will continue to work with all stakeholders to ensure Pennsylvania consumers maximize the benefits of competitive energy markets,” said RESA President David Fein. Cerniglia is the Director of National Advocacy and Government and Regulatory Affairs for Direct Energy Services, a leading supplier of competitively priced electricity and natural gas with its North American business headquarters in Pittsburgh.
